Statement of Purpose:

Interpreting the Chilkat River Valley- Ethnographic (Tlingit History), Pioneer, Industries and Local Art.

Highlights & Collections:

• Exhibits interpreting Tlingit Native culture and art (including Chilkat Blankets);
• Pioneer History;
• Monographs- short historical essays of a variety of local topics;

• Last Stronghold of the Eagles and Haines: A Place of Great Diversity ea. 25 min.;
• temporary and travelling exhibits;
• Museum Store- wide variety of books;
• local art, crafts, products.

• Ethnographic collections, Tlingit Culture (also some Eskimo, Athabascan, Aleut);
• Pioneer History- gold rush, Presbyterian Mission and Haines House, military post, Dalton Trail, City of Haines, etc.;
• Local Industries-Mining, Fishing, Timber;
• Local Artwork

Hours:

SUMMER: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Closed holidays.

WINTER: Sun. Mon. Wed. 1-4 pm Tues. Thurs. Fri 3-5 pm

Admission & Directions:

$4 in the summer season and $3 in the winter season 

An annual museum pass is $15 , and

All 18 years and younger are admitted without charge.

Located downtown on the corner of Front and Main Streets, just above the Small Boat Harbor.

If you come in from the ferry terminal or down the Haines Highway, just turn onto Main St. and drive until you almost hit the water!
