Statement of Purpose:

The mission of the U.S. Army Medical Department Museum is to collect, preserve, exhibit and interpret historically significant property related to the history of the Army Medical Department from 1775 to the present.

As an educational institution, the Museum will support training and education for military and civilian personnel.

History of the US Army Medical Department since 1775 and its contributions to public health.

Highlights:

The Army Medical Department Museum tells the story of the Army's contribution to our nation's history and the development of medical science for over 200 years.

Located on Fort Sam Houston in the Heart of San Antonio, the Museum is within a mile or two of most of the cultural destinations in the city.

These include the Fort Sam Houston Military Museum, Botanical Center, Zoo, Witte Museum, Art Museum and MacNay Museum.

Those with an interest in military history, historical sites or medical history would be interested in our museum.

Exhibits:

Army medical equipment, uniforms, vehicles, insignia, artwork and video. Opening of Phase II expansion to the Museum which will double the interior exhibit space and add outdoor exhibits as well.

Hours:

Open: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Closed Sunday, Monday and Federal Holidays.

Admission:

Free.
