Statement of Purpose:

The 370,000 sq ft museum/archives house 30,000 objects related to the life and art of John Steinbeck.
Groundbreaking for the new museum took place on April 26, 1997. The cement foundation was poured on June 17. Anticipated opening of the museum is June 1, 1998.
