Statement of Purpose

The purpose of the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts is to collect, preserve, exhibit, and interpret art of the highest quality for the enrichment, enlightenment and enjoyment of its public.

Highlights & Collections

The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts is the oldest fine arts museum in Alabama. Noted for its outstanding survey collection of American paintings and sculpture, the Museum also boasts an impressive collection of Old Master prints, Southern regional art, and decorative arts.

The Museum's permanent collection is complemented by an exciting array of traveling exhibitions and stimulating educational programming that examines the diverse facets of the world of fine art.

The Museum is home to ARTWORKS, a one-of-a-kind, hands-on gallery and art studio for children of all ages. More than thirty interactive exhibits encourage creative abilities while educating about the elements of art and the Museum's permanent collection.

At the MMFA you can enjoy lunch at Cafe M or find a variety of specialty gifts for any occasion at The Museum Shop.
