The Bob Jones University Museum & Gallery exists to provide a cultural resource for communities at home and abroad, by making its collection available to students, educators, art lovers, and museums. The purpose of our collection is to show the history and development of religious art in the Western World.
The Museum & Gallery at Bob Jones University houses one of the most important collections of religious art in America. Paintings of European sacred art from the 14th through the 19th centuries beautifully trace the religious, artistic, and cultural history of Western Europe. Included are important works of many major artists such as Rubens, Tintoretto, Veronese, Cranach, Gerard David, Murillo, Ribera, van Dyck, Honthorst, and Dore. In addition, M&G contains the Bowen Collection of Antiquities which features Egyptian, Roman, and ancient Hebrew artifacts.
13th to 19th century religious art.
Tuesday through Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Closed Mondays and certain holidays.
From 385 take exit 40A to North Pleasantburg Drive. 500 feet after crossing East North Street, turn left onto the campus of BJU. At the first stop sign on campus turn right; this street will dead-end in the museum parking lot, the museum is on the left.
