Statement of Purpose:
The
Ulrich Museum of Art and its
outdoor sculpture collection expand human experience through encounters
with the art of our future and advance the educational mission of
Wichita
State University and contribute to the cultural vitality of the region
by collecting, preserving, exhibiting, and interpreting outstanding
examples of modern and contemporary art.
Highlights:
Major 70+ piece outdoor sculpture
collection includes American
and European sculptiors such as:
Andy Goldsworthy, Tom Otterness, Rodin, Fernando Botero,
Louise Nevelson, and Claes Oldenburg.
Museum façade features a
28-by-52-foot mural in Venetian glass and marble by Spanish artist Joan Miro.
Collection installation
is
PEOPLE, PLACE and PATTERN, an
arrangement of the collection by subject matter.

Free, guided
tours of the Ulrich Museum of Art and the outdoor sculpture collection
are available for groups of 10 or more. To make a tour request, please
call Aimee Geist, education coordinator, at (316) 978-7116.
Directions:
The Ulrich
Museum is located in the southwest corner of the Wichita State
University campus. A WSU campus map is located in both Wichita
telephone directories. When traveling to the museum, look for the
large, colorful mosaic on museum's front entrance.
· From I-135
traveling either north or south: I-135 to the 21st Street exit (located
between the 13th Street and K-96 exits). East on 21st Street to
Hillside. South on Hillside to 17th Street. East on 17th Street to
Fairmount.

From
Kellogg Avenue West (Highway 54): East on Kellogg and take the I-135
North exit. North on I-135 to the 13th Street exit. East on 13th Street
to Hillside. North on Hillside to 17th Street. East on 17th Street to
Fairmount.
· From
Kellogg Avenue East (Highway 54): West on Kellogg to the Hillside exit.
North on Hillside crossing Douglas Street, Central Avenue and 13th
Street. Continue on Hillside to 17th Street and east on 17th to
Fairmount.

From K-96
traveling either east or west: K-96 to the Hillside exit and south on
Hillside past 21st Street to 17th Street. East on 17th Street to
Fairmount.
