Statement of Purpose:

The American Precision Museum is the national center for the collection, preservation and the interpretation of the history of precision manufacturing.

Our mission is to enhance public understanding of the importance of precision manufacturing, the ingenuity and entreneurial spirit which drive it, and its effect on our everyday lives.

Highlights:

Housed in the original Robbins & Lawrence Armory and Machine Shop, built in 1847, the Museum boasts the largest collection of historic machine tools in the nation.

Special exhibitions include the return of MAXFIELD PARRISH: MACHINIST, ARTISAN, ARTIST and for the 1996 season, THE CUTTING EDGE: MACHINES THAT SHAPE OUR WORLD.

Visitors will see a working 1850s machine shop and learn how interchangeable parts were perfected by Robbins & Lawrence with the manufacture of guns.

Art lovers will delight in our look at the works and accomplishments of Maxfield Parrish. The Parrish exhibition features many significant works and the link between Parrish's artistic expression as a machinist, artisan and artist.

The Museum building is a National Historic Landmark and located in Windsor, "the birthplace of Vermont."
