Statement of Purpose

"The Maine Museum of American Art" focuses on the history of American art with special emphasis on Maine artists.

Highlights & Collections

The only Museum in the country telling the important story of Maine artists within the context of the history of American art.

Adjacent Victorian Homestead , placed on the National Registrar of Historic Places and considered one of the finest Victorian-era residences on the East coast.

The Olson House in nearby Cushing is well known as the site of Christina's World by Andrew Wyeth and is preserved as depicted in numerous works by the artist.

American paintings, sculpture, prints, drawings and photographs with emphasis on works related to Maine. Permanent collection has major works representing the 19th century, American Impressionism and 20th century. The Wyeth Collection and extensive Nevelson holdings.

Ongoing: Maine in America--permanent collection embracing the history of American art with a special emphasis on works related to Maine.

The Wyeth Collection: works by N.C., Andrew, and Jamie from the Farnsworth's permanent collection and from the collection of Andrew and Betsy Wyeth.
